Sisig Date

Few years ago, husband and I never missed on weekend dates.  Visiting the newest restaurant in the metro was a regular thing on a Friday night, and if our budget allowed, that extended for a movie date the next day.  We started doing that when we already had our own moolah to burn--that was when we finished school and started earning our own money, until we got married.  It made a half-stop when our Little Man arrived.  That adorable little creature turned our weekends  from bar hopping to baby stuff shopping, from movie date to carousel rides, from romantic dinner date to Jollibee and McDonald's. But take note that I said "half-stop", for my husband and I never really said goodbye to dating each other.  Only now, it is different.  We still have our coupletime, but with a twist.  It's kinda exciting and fun, if you ask me. It's quite a new experience for us, and we are enjoying it.  Mababaw ways of enjoying each other's company, but still!! It's just giving our weekend dates (and sometimes week day dates) a facelift.

Just like tonight, we agreed to have our sisig date somewhere just very near our home--our outdoor kitchen!  We bought ready-to-cook sisig and some bottles of beer, pumped up the volume of the music in the background, and there!  It is like we were already in a bar somewhere, only we are in the comforts of our pyjamas.

A tale of dog's loyalty (The Hachiko Story)

..............................

My little man is not fond of watching television, unless the program is High Five, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, or Animal Planet.  Among these, Animal Planet makes him settled the longest.  One day while watching with him, the topic was about Akita dogs.  The program went on, my little man watched while I read my book, until the story of one Akita made me close my book and paid attention to it.  The story was about Hachiko.

If you have been to Japan, you might have noticed that there's a bronze statue of an Akita dog in Shibuya station.  That dog is the famous Hachiko.  What made him famous, and why did Japan give him honor?  Here's the story:

In 1924, a professor named Hidesaburo Ueno took in an Akita as a pet.  He named it Hachiko, because when the professor found the dog, he was wearing a tag that says Hachi.  The professor and the dog were inseparable.  In the morning, Hachiko walked with the professor to Shibuya train station, watched him enter the train until it faded his sight.  In the afternoon, Hachiko would be in the Shibuya station again,  on that place where his master would alight.  This went on for a year, and the professor and Hachiko became a sort of "attraction" in the station.  Commuters never missed a sight of the two together, until that day of May 1925.  The professor, while on his job, suffered cerebral hemorrhage, and died.  Hachiko patiently waited for his friend, but he never returned to that place where they would meet and walk home together.  Eventually, the professor's wife had to let go of Hachiko.  But still, despite being with a new master, Hachiko managed to escape in the afternoon to go to the station, settled himself there, and waited for the professor.  Commuters and concerned food-stall owners gave Hachiko food to keep him nourished. For a long nine years, on that same spot of the Shibuya station, Hachiko waited for the return of his master.

One of the professor's students learned about the waiting Hachiko and he wrote several articles about this dog's loyalty to his master. After some time, one of his articles made its way to one of Japan's biggest dailies.  This put Hachiko's story of loyalty to the spotlight, and was made known to the whole of Japan.  Eventually, because of his faithfulness, Hachiko became Japan's national symbol of loyalty.

In 1934, a bronze statue was erected in Shibuya station---the Hichoko's statue.  He was even present during its unveiling, but he must be old, weak and even sick by that time.  In 1935, we has found dead.

Aside from the statue, one of Shibuya's exit was also named after the dog--the Hachiko Exit.  Also, April 8 of every year, Japan pays tribute to this dog's devotion by having a solemn celebration in Shibuya station.

Happy November 16, honey!!

.............................

November 16 has always been so special to me and my husband simply because---it's our anniversary!!  Today, we are celebrating our seventeenth year of being committed to each other, and our fifth year as a wedded couple.  This year, as my pasabog, I made a special video composed of our wedding photos which had stories to tell behind it.   It took me just three days to finish this thing.  I did it last month, October 13 to be exact and finished on October 16--a month before the big day.  I wanted to surprise him by posting it on my FB account on the day of our anniversary, and of course, tagging him.  But for whatever reason, on the night of October 16 and exactly one month before the big day, he opened the laptop I was using (the laptop that he never touched for months and I almost own) and found my secret.  Needless to say, he found my hardwork, watched it up to the credits, went to bed (I was already sleeping by that time), shook me a little (to wake me up), and gave the most nakakainis smile.  My eyes were half-open and it almost popped out when I saw the beaming laptop.  All he said was:  Thank you, hon.  I love you, too.

Wearing My Hubby's Shirt Is Bad For Me

..............................

Last night, I chose to wear my husband's shirt as my sleepwear.  He's about to hand it down to someone and I stopped him because when I felt it, it's so thin already due to years of use and that's exactly what I wanted for a "dress down" night (my husband does not like the idea of me wearing lousy sleepwear).  He was already asleep when I stepped out of the shower, which is a good thing, so he won't be able to see me wearing the lousy, old shirt.

When I woke up this morning, he had the sweetest words for me-- okay naman pala yung t-shirt sa yo e, hindi malaki tingnan.  Which for me translates to:  hindi naman pala gano kalaki tingnan yung t-shirt sa 'yo kasi malaki ka rin naman.  Okay, yung malaki means mataba

I gave him the face, and he knew he said something wrong.  Maybe it was really nothing for him.  He meant no harm.  Maybe since it's still early in the morning, his still snoring mind was not able to process the fact that girls (ladies) do not like to be noticed of their figure, unless it is something that spells s-e-x-y.   But if it is something that spells f-a-t,  oh no, here comes WW3!

So, wearing his shirt is not a good idea at all even if it is the most comfy shirt I have ever worn.  And because of that honest comment, I am having a hard time concentrating on my work today.  ;(

Wives, read only the first part. Husbands, the rest.

A Woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods. She went into the woods to look for it and found a frog in a trap. The frog said to her, “If you release me from this trap, I will grant you three wishes.”
The woman freed the frog, and the frog said, “Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes. Whatever you wish for, your husband will get times ten!”

The woman said, “That’s okay.” For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world. The frog warned her, “You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis to whom women will flock.” The woman replied, “That’s okay, because I will be the most beautiful Woman and he will have eyes only for me.”
So, KAZAM! she’s the most beautiful Woman in the world!

For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world. The frog said, “That will make your husband the richest man in the world. And he will be ten times richer than you.” The woman said, “That’s okay, because what’s mine is his and what’s his is mine.”
So, KAZAM! she’s the richest woman in the world!

The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, “I’d like a mild heart attack.”

Moral of the story: Women are clever. Don’t mess with them.

Attention female readers : This is the end of the joke for you. Stop here and continue feeling good.

Male readers, continue reading….

The man had a heart attack ten times milder than his wife.

Moral of the story: Women think they’re so smart. Let them continue to think that way and just enjoy the show.

PS: If you are a woman and are still reading this; it only goes to show that women never listen!

Note: I got this article from www.InspiredDreamer.com. My reaction when the woman wished for a mild heart attack: that was clever, you girl!! Heck, it did not occur to me what would happen to the husband. Now this article got me thinking. Do we really "just believe" that we are smarter than the men? Hmmm...

A Father's Strength...

...............................

Note: I got this from Facebook courtesy of my cousin. This is a very touching note about fathers.

My forever status

..............................

Rainy afternoon!!

There is never a moment I do not take a peek on my facebook account. And often, I do write what I feel to let my friends know my status for the day, or for the week for that matter. Among the many shout out's that I wrote, there is this one I really love for it really comes from the heart. It reads:

I am inlove with two men. The younger man wins most of my time and attention. The older one seems not to mind as long as I sleep beside him every night. I call the one my son, and the other my husband.

This status will forever be my status. I will always be inlove with my husband and the many more children he and I will be having.

Stay in love y'all!!

The other woman

..............................

Ciao!

It is all over the news--Manny Pacquiao and the alleged other woman Krista Ranillo.
Jinky was not able to hide her emotions when she succumed into tears as Aling Dionisia gave Manny a comforting hug. Why is it that in every success of a man, there comes the other woman? Is it because men do not feel truly "up there" if they do not conquer it all-the money, the fame, the women. Why is it that success always means one family being torn apart? One family in trouble? One home being wrecked? It does not happen to just Manny Pacquiao, who from the beginning was being linked to Ara Mina and now to Krista Ranillo. It could happen to just anybody--known or unknown member of the male community. Having a broken home is something like having a cancer-- you do not wish it to happen to anyone, even your enemy.

I have, in fact, a close friend who is one. Believe it or not, we are good. I mean, as friends, we get along. We share the same likes--movies, clothes, bags,
shoes, even food, books, the list goes on. We can talk about anything and everything
under the sun--except her love life. Who wants to hear stories, or problems, of a kabit? How would I feel kilig every time she wants to talk about their weekend get away? Or the places they have been to? Their thriving business together? When at the back of my mind, I know someone is being stabbed. Someone is hurting (yes, the wife knows all about the affair too). And believe me, this friend of mine is someone I would not like to meet in the future. She is such a perfect kabit, if there is such a thing. Perfect that the man wants to leave his family behind just for her. And my friend is there always waiting.

They have been together for the longest time now. And they do live as a married
couple. Ma and Da are their terms of endearment. And when they learned that I was
pregnant few months back, inggit sila sa akin. I did not bother to confirm if they too wanted to have a child of their own for I was not so sure if I would like to hear their answer.

I sort of investigated their set up few years back when their relationship was just fresh and young. I always have this belief that kabits exist because of money. As what I have said with Manny Pacquiao--the money, the fame, the women. It has to be the money and nothing else. But with my friend, it's different. They both have money. And most of the time, my friend has more resources than her guy--cars, high-paying job, allowance from parents, own condo unit. And these all belong to just her. Her own pocket, her own ATM. Most of the time, the guy is short of money. Of course he has his own family to give his money to. And the wife naman syempre will not allow the money to be shared with this kabit friend of mine. So my friend shoulders the expenses.

There lies the mystery of it all... is it always the money, or is true love now involved? My friend seems to be happy with him, and so is the guy with her. Who am I to judge? They might have their own reasons, sabi nga ni Manny, wag na pakialaman ang personal na buhay.

But as for me, I really do hope and I pray hard that my husband won't meet
someone like my friend--someone who I call a perfect kabit. As for the meantime, I am doing my best not to give my hubby the reason to look for one.

Celebrating 16 years of pure love

............................

Good day!!

November 16, 2009, honey and I celebrated our 16th anniversary as a dating couple and
4th anniversary as a married couple. I met him when I was only 16 and now that I am already 32, he's still the one I get my kiligs from. It amazes me that half of my life I already spent with the man of my forever.

This year is such a special year for us. Aside from the 16th anniversary on the 16th of November, this is also the year we were blessed with an angel. Yes, after three years of longing to have a little one, we were given a little sweetheart we can call our own. The three of us are inseparable. Wherever one goes, the two will follow. and the anniversary was not an exception. My honey and I went out for our anniversary date, with a stroller in tow. ;)

We went to Megamall and first stop was Dairy Queen.
I dunno how how honey developed his love for DQ,
and I am not complaining. Pretty soon Migo will be
ordering one for himself.

I ordered the usual favorite, Oreo. Honey ordered
strawberry. While the little boy had to content
himself with his milk

Our gifts to each other.

The first time I saw a pair of these crocs suede-made flats some few weeks back, I was not able to sleep. I wanted it so badly because of the comfort it gives to the feet when walking. Yesterday, hubby gave it to me as his gift. Sweet!

I really thought Migo and he will be checking some stuff in some
boutique while I went to buy something from National bookstore.
Once done, I looked for them because they were nowhere to
be found. I was calling his both phones and he would not answer and I
was already fuming mad for he was in his phones constantly to attend to his work
how come now,he would not answer my call!! Few more minutes later,
the stroller was approaching carrying these flowers!! Awww, that was sweeter!!

We went to Gap and he eyed a nice polo, fitted it and left. He had second thoughts of buying it for it was "not practical". But it really looked good on him. So while he was buying something from Watsons, Migo and I went to Gap and bought
the polo. I gave it to him as a gift.

We then went to the Chapel to hear mass. To have each other for sixteen years is something really, really worth saying thanks for to that One above. For our last stop, we went to Dad's Eat-All-You-Can and had dinner there. Good thing our Migo was not that cranky anymore because he just had his nap that time. He was playing while we were enjoying our food. We went back and forth, back and forth. I was so excited to taste everything on the buffet table. I did not dare hesitate to binge and totally loose control of my so-called diet. That was such a bliss!

We arrived home at around eleven in the evening. Migo was in deep sleep already while the two of us were so tired and sleepy. I enjoyed the day so much and I look forward to more days like this.

Cheating is still cheating. Period.

.............................

My favorite magazine show, Sweetlife (airing every weekdays over channel 11 at 5pm),tackled about emotional cheating. For the longest time I have been thinking if cheating is classified only as physical cheating, meaning there is physical contact on whatever form involve.

"Whatever form" can be as plain and simple dating or as far and sinful as sexual intercourse. Does it always have to be "face to face" so to consider what they are doing is cheating? Madalas ko kasi marinig sa mga lalake na kung wala namang nangyayari between a man or a woman (whoever is married between the two), it is not cheating. So if like my husband texts his ex, and they text regularly for that matter, with "how are you?", "kumain ka na?" "i just arrived, you where are you?", "ingat ka lagi ha", etcetera etcetera to that effect, you men think it's not cheating? I believe it is. And I have been believing for the longest time.

The Husband Store

(this i got from an email. read on and do not tell me it is not true.)

WELCOME TO THE HUSBAND STORE!!

A store that sells husbands has just open in New York City, where a woman may choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:

You may visit the store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the attributes of the men increase as the shopper ascends the flights. There is, however, a catch... you may choose any man from a particular floor, or you may choose to go up floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
Happy Shopping!!!

So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband... On the first floor the sign on the door reads:

Floor 1: These men have jobs and love the Lord.

the second floor sign reads:

Floor 2: These men have jobs, love the Lord, and like kids.

The third floor sign reads:

Floor 3: these men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids and are extremely good looking.

"Wow!" she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 4: These men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead good looking and help with the housework.
"Oh mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:

Floor 5: these men have jobs, love the Lord, love kids, are drop-dead gorgeous, help with the housework, and have a strong romantic streak.

She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor and the sign read

Floor 6: You are visitor 4,363.012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exist solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store. Watch your step as you exit the building. Have a nice day!

My Old-School Ways to Keep A Happy Married Life

Having almost three jobs to fulfill--my daytime job which is co-managing the family business, my own entreprenurial adventures, and my online jobs, I sometimes wonder where to get the energy to at least keep in touch with the marriage department. I often feel guilty that most of the time it has to take the back seat to make way to some as equally important concerns. In hard times like this, with the word "recession" always heard in the news and read in the papers, one cannot deny the fact that money is much harder to earn now a days so one has to strive harder than the usual. Unfortunately, I am not an Ayala or an Ortigas to take things just as lightly, and my husband is not a Sy or a Gokongwei either. My hubby is earning enough for the two of us, most of the time earning more than enough when he gets bonuses and the like, but with a baby coming up, my being a segurista cannot help but panic and worry on where to get moolah for the future of this baby.

But married life definitely has not to suffer. For I believe that you can have all the money in the world, but if you have a failed marriage and a lonely life, you simply still do not have it all. My marriage is still my topmost priority, no matter what. And i know some days i tend to neglect it, but most of the time i nurture it as a baby. It does not have to be as stressfull, for there are simple ways to keep a happily married life. These are old-school ways, you may say, but still very powerful in keeping the marriage happier and stronger.

1. I am polite.
I believe that most people, especially those who are married for like ten, twenty years, tend to forget to be polite. I, up to this date, never fail to say "thank you" or "please" to my hubby. And i even say "sorry" if needed. No matter how small it is, I never failed to be polite to him. And I couple it with some sweetness and tenderness, making it really sincere and truthfull to hear. My husband, in return, does the same and sometimes even more. He still opens the door for me, goes to the danger side when we are crossing the street and pulls out the chair for me. They may seem so traditional, but being polite shows that the respect is still there and we both care how the other feels.

2. I do not end the day angry.
I believe that time is gold. Okay, it's a cliche. But going to bed angry just eats up a lot of precious time that could be spent to some other valuable and quality bonding. I finish my work at around 8pm, and my husband finishes around that time too. Imagine the measly time left for us to be together and talk about how the day was. Time left for us is too short, too short to even argue over things, and worst, go to bed angry at each other. So what I do, I finish any argument as fast as I could, just sticking to the issue. It's faster that way. If there is no way we can really wrap it up and finish it, we would agree to sleep it over first and talk it over the following day, without setting an angry mood. It also helps in clearing the mind, making us more relaxed when we proceed with the talking.

3. There are My Love Letters.
In this world full of high tech communication, who still writes love letters? I do! Yes, i do and I am proud of it. The letters I write are small notes just to remind him how happy I am that he is my husband, that I am such a lucky wife to have him. It's often a surprise note for him, often found in places he never expects. Like a letter sticking in the television set, for the first thing he does when he wakes up is to turn on the TV. Something like that. Or letter of reminders, like the one i stick in the dash shield reminding him to drive safely on his way to work. Just like last month when he went to Hongkong, I put love notes in different pockets of his travelling bag, making him find one note everyday. He enjoyed it, it was like a hunt. And his anticipation offinding a new note each day made him miss me more. Yes, text messages still reign, but writing love letters is still the best to assure someone how we deeply love them.

4. I compliment him.
Saying "you look cute on your new haircut" makes him feel secured and confident, but really, there is a deeper meaning to giving a compliment. Compliments show that you are in tune with your spouse, that he has your 100 percent attention. For you cannot give a SINCERE compliment if you do not know everything going on with him, like a new haircut for example. It means that you always notice him, that you are always connected to him. But of course pumping up his confidence is a major plus point, making him not want to get compliment from someone else.

5. I hold his hands.
Whether in private or in public, i never fail to seek for his hand and hold it. It may be in the mall, or simply when he's driving. Even when we are sleeping. It makes me feel secured, and it fully expresses our affection to each other.

The Office Spouses --- Gateway to Extramarital Affair?

I have been hearing a lot about this office spouse relationship. I never thought there actually exists such a relationship in the workplace, since for one, I know that having a relationship outside the marriage is simply called having an affair. Period. Nothing more, nothing less. But, why is there a growing population of this so called relationship? And is it not a gateway to putting an end to your marriage?

An office spouse is someone you are constantly with in the workplace. He's there for lunch and coffee breaks. He knows your emotional needs in the office specially when the boss requires an overtime or worse, reprimands your work. He's there to celebrate with you when you meet the requirement, reach the quota and get a promotion. He's always there for you through thick and thin, very much like a spouse. But it only lasts for eight working hours, since after that, you both go back to your respective partners. Or do you really?

Is this something we really need in the workplace? Sure, we cannot avoid the fact that we do work closely every single working day with someone of the opposite sex. And sure, we cannot share the happiness, frustrations, rejections, concerns regarding work, specially in an instant, to that someone we are legally committed to because of different and far working background and experiences. But the affection, the security, the confidence we need, do we really have to get it from an office spouse?

This kind of relationship, no matter how platonic they claim it is, is surely a gateway extramarital affair. Most of the time, since you are together, you develop this honesty and openness, and these can lead to some conversations that matter outside even outside work. And this only means you can talk freely about anything, even your personal matters. You know someone from the office cares about you so you just pour your heart out with problems regarding your husband. It could also be that your office spouse knows some things, interesting things, about you that your husband does not know. It could be that you now can enjoy your french fries dipped in coke that your husband really hates, since the office spouse is there to join you with your craziness because he likes it to. You may now be comparing him with your husband. And you may now be confident enough to know that even without your spouse, there is someone in work that will take his place. And most of the time, the other is very much willing to be discreet about it too.

So can this be avoided? Surely if you want to. First off, if support in the workplace is what you really need, I strongly believe that you can get it from your workmates of the same sex. Okay, let's include the opposite sex here, but you can be in groups. No exclusively, one-on-one, lunch hours for you and the opposite sex. Always be in group to be on the safe side. Or if you feel like talking with someone because you are frustrated, why not call your spouse instead? Talk to him and tell him what's happening. He may not get the full details, of course, since he is not working with you, but I know he's there to listen and to give you some cheers. Or if you really cannot avoid to having a close connection with the opposite sex, maybe because all the girls are occupied or having their own office spouses as well, then try your best to remain it as it is and is supposed to be--platonic. Do not go the extra mile.

Simple Ways We Keep Our Fire Burning

My husband has a very hectic schedule. Often times he would be out of the house so early in the morning to catch his morning meeting and goes home really late still with unfinished work, thus bringing his pending work in the house. I pity him sometimes but he's such a lover of his work that I feel I am the mistress and his job is his wife. But I appreciate the simple ways he makes up with me. A lot of times he is the one thinking on how we can spend our time together even if he has some work to do. And I love to reciprocate as well. The things that bond us together need not require huge amount of precious time. As the cliche goes, quality time is much better than quantity time. So what are the simple ways that bond us together and keep the fire alive? Here are some:

1. We wake up earlier than usual. If we have to be out of the bed at 6:00 am, we set the alarm at 5:20 am. The leeway time would be for cuddling and exchanging small talks. We will just be in bed, lazily enganging into hugs and embraces and others in between *wink*.

2. We make time to text or call each other in between work. Most of the time I am the one initiating this since my job is more flexible than his. So every lunch time, I never fail to text him and check on him, ask him what he would be having for lunch. Depending on his load of work, he replies and check on me in return. But I understand if he's too busy to do that since his work is unpredictable. But everytime he finds the time, he texts back, no matter how late it is to reply, or even call me through my landline phone. It's nice to hear from each other so to also break the monotonous of work.

3. We try our best to go home together and have dinner together. After work, I go straight to the mall where he could pick me up, even if it means I have to wait for like two hours for him to arrive. We do our best to go home together since our travel time is another opportunity for us to bond and check on whatever happened for the day. This is a best time since both of us are relaxed already and prepping up to end the day.

4. We always touch each other. Literally, that is. If he's reading the dailies, I will sit next to him and read my book or surf through the laptop, me constantly touching *caressing* his arm or his nape or his legs. Or if we are watching the TV, we would hold hands. Or I give him a massage.

5. We have an activity together. We jog around the UP campus every Sunday morning. *But I am now pregnant so I have to stop it. He still jog anyways.*

6. Discover new places during our free day. It is always nice to explore a new something--restaurant, mall, spa, whatever, with my hubby. I would rather discover it with him that with any other companion.

7. We have our own separate interests. We also have our individual likes and that is important. While he is so fond of current events and politics, I am so fond of lighter stuff like music, surfing the internet or movies. It balances both of us. He always have something new to share to me, and I have something to share in return. These contradictions always serve as a topic starter, and we always have something to talk about. We learn from each other too.

How I Came To Be

I was 16 years old then, freshly popped out from an all-girls exclusive high school. I first sighted him on my college enrollment day. He was really tall, cute and striking. My eyes were glued on him. I was wishing that we could be at least classmates or if not, at least building mate. I saw him again days after when I went to the university to get my class schedule. He was in the same building again and he was getting his schedule too. Again, I wished for the same thing. The third time I saw him, I knew my prayers were answered. First day of classes and he was hanging out in the same classroom I was in. When the professor came in and asked us to settle, he grabbed a seat and stayed. He was my classmate!

He was friendly and nice. It turned out we were living in the same city and he knows some of my high school classmates. He lived twenty minutes away from my place. We clicked and we had the same circle of classmate-friends. Second semester, he gave me a card and formally announced his intention to court me. I always had feelings for him, from the day I saw him. November 16,1993 I officially had my first boyfriend.

I was so lucky for he was such a gentleman. I never had a single heart ache with him. There were minor glitches but that was all it. We never had major fights. We never had major break ups. I was only praying then for him to be my classmate but I was given much much more. I knew he was the one for me--the one I would be building my dreams with, the one who would father my children, the one I would grow old with. I could never imagine myself being with someone else.

November 16, 2005-- after eleven long years, we finally tied the knot. We waited this long with no regrets. And since then my life had never been the same. For I officially became a wife of the most loving man in the world, and I am loving every minute of it.
